She has found a good home!

She’s feeding well now, with a syringe. She’s healthy and been de-wormed. The vet recommended to bring her for vaccination in about 3 weeks time.

An abandoned kitten is looking for a good home. She was found on the road, literally in the middle of a traffic junction. A female, she’s approximately 5-6 weeks, approximately the size of one hand. The first night she only drunk a few drops of milk but she’s better now that she’s not so terrified. But she’s very tame and curious, and very active when it’s awake, very sleepy when it’s time to nod off.

Kate eyeshadow and Lunasol lipstick. Also got the Lunasol Watery Oil Cleansing, heard good things about it but I’m laughing at the name too.

Very pigmented.

When I first opened it up, I was like “Oh shit”, cause I thought it was old stock and there was mould on it. Turns out, it’s just the pattern, and it’s really cool too.

Just realized my Project Pan is still going slowly though, feeling a bit guilty about that. But sometimes for important events I prefer to rely on my better and longer-lasting makeup for the good impressions I need. Regardless, I’m (trying) to make headway on all the items.

When I attempted to clear out my cupboards, I was horrified to realize how much clutter I had. There were a surprising number of things I have, which I have stopped using. Hence the beginning of my project.

Starting small, I wanted to get the smaller things out of the way (and feel accomplished at the same time).

Foundation, blush, lipgloss, highlighter, makeup base, eyeshadow. Some of the most basic makeup items.

I’ve kept the makeup base and foundation for a long time without using them, it’s time to finish them off. I hardly use the highlighter either, it’s time to incorporate it into my daily routine.

I’ve almost never touched the Estee Lauder eyeshadow at all. While I doubt I can finish this off easily, at least I’ll finally start using it instead of letting it languish in a drawer.

Basic lipgloss and blush. The lipgloss is actually good, but I’ve put it aside and neglected it, so it’s time to use it again.

I’ve plenty more things in my stash, which is why I’m starting small, so I can move quickly. I hope to have renewed cupboards by the end of the year, so I’ll have a nice timeframe of six months. Which makes my feel better than thinking of getting new things and adding on to the load.

Thrown anything out recently?

The trend has caught on for many Singapore girls and women to enlarge their irises through the use of circle lenses. Circle lenses are coloured contact lenses originally invented in South Korea that come in varying colours like pink and purple. They enlarge the eyes by being tinted prominently in the outer ring and cover a portion of the whites of the eyes.

Dubbed the “anime lenses” because of their resemblance to Japanese animated cartoon characters, they have been available since 2005 but rocketed to fame when pop star Lady Gaga recently wore a pair for her Bad Romance music video.

While the music video probably had photoshop to enhance the irises, this still left many girls wanting.

Besides wanting to emulate the celebrity, girls who enjoy watching anime shows such as Mermaid Melody (a show about a mermaid princess) can imitate their favourite cartoon anime character by enlarging and brightening their eyes through the use of these contact lenses.

Unlike normal contact lenses that can only be sold with a prescription by optometrists and opticians, there are no restrictions on who can sell these circle lenses. They can be obtained through online sellers who get them from suppliers in countries like Japan and Korea. Companies including Geo Medical and Dueba ContactLens from Korea manufacture such lenses, which are prominently featured in online websites and Internet blog shops. Both prescription and non-prescription (also known as plano) lenses can be bought.

These lenses sold online fall within the range of $10 to $20 per pair and can last up to a year, compared to those sold by optometrists which costs approximately $50 per pair and only lasts up to a month. However, they come with little to no consumer aftercare provided so that the consumers do not neglect on hygiene. Concerns have also been raised on the issue of quality of the lenses. Some companies are selling circles lenses online without bearing a stamp of approval from health services

Mr William Choo, 44, an optometrist and operations manager of local optometrist shop Nanyang Optical, has seen a surge of people coming in citing problems such as bloodshot eyes and dryness. He says: “Most are youngsters who abuse their eyes by wearing cosmetic contact lenses daily, for extremely long hours.”

For Ms Mary Ng, 18, a student, the problems did not just stop there. She had bought a pair of contact lenses from a local online blog shop, and had initially no issues with the lenses.

“After about a week of wearing, my eyes became dry and itchy. There was also pus flowing out.”

A check of her optometrist led to a discovery that the lenses caused her eyes to be over dry and produced mucus which blocked her vision, causing her difficulty in seeing clearly. A shocked Mary immediately threw away the contact lenses she bought. The incident has left a bad impression on her regarding circle lenses.

For those still looking to buy circle lenses from online blog shops, Mr Choo offers this advice: “As opticians, we can help you if you suffer from any kind of infection when you wear cosmetic contact lenses. Your eyesight is probably the most precious thing you own.”

The other celebrity couple to call it quits were Leonardo Dicaprio and model Bar Refaeli. The on-off couple who’ve battled 6 rocky years finally ended their relationship for good, also citing that work-related issues had driven their priorities apart.

(But Bar might not have been expecting it.)

While Leo galloped off to Cannes to meet up with director Steven Spielberg (and sparked off rumours with actress Blake Lively), Bar didn’t lounge around in sweatpants and mourn the death of their relationship. Instead, she showed up at the Cannes Film Festival, and event-hopped her way through with groups of model girlfriends, proving to the world that one does not need Leo when one has Couture.

She attended the Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend event in a strapless Roberto Cavalli dress and Chopard jewellery. An updo completed the look, and minimal glowing makeup.

Then came the dress that got everyone’s eyes on her.

The navy floor-length dress had dramatic cut-outs and was designed by Roberto Cavalli. Her usually loose hair was scraped back into a ponytail and she held her head high as she walked down the red carpet of the premiere of The Beaver.

Proving that she has a taste for Cavalli’s designs (or maybe just a close friend of his), she attends a Roberto Cavalli boutique opening in an embellished minidress and beach blonde waves.

Unfortunately, she was not the only one who showed up wearing that dress when Swedish model Victoria Silvstedt showed up in the same dress.

Later, she flies over to Spain to attend the F1 (and saw Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton on the way) as well as to present the new LG 3G Cinema television in Barcelona.

The one thing I still can’t get over is… how is she possibly named ‘Bar’?

These clutches also launched a legal proceeding from Le-Tan, when friends tipped her off about the similar designs from Kate Spade. Le-Tan’s clutches debuted on her site in 2009, while Kate Spade’s clutches only appeared in August 2010. Suspicious.

Still, Le-Tan was not the first person to think up the novel idea either. There had already been a number of websites offering book clutches, and ways of how to DIY your own.

And even now, everyone else seems to be copying the same thing, with their own twist.
