The first semester is finally over!

There comes a time when you love to sit down and talk about meaningful things about life, love and living. About what makes us angry and happy, and why.

And then there comes a time where you just want to forget the woes of the world and return to the things that make you happy.

I have succumbed to that. It’s been so tiring to have had deadlines, projects, work, work, projects, deadlines, deadlines, exams and exams. Not only that, the ORD-ed guys have warned me that the end of every semester will probably be quite similar to what I’ve encountered, though I heard what I picked this semester are some of the heaviest subjects.

If it was for one particular subject, one particular job, or even one particular course, maybe it could have been more manageable. But it was really tiring switching from this to that, knowing full well that something else needs my attention later on. I really need a spa experience now.

Principessa Philosophy -

Principessa Beauty offers a spa experience with self-pampering at its finest with an array of impossibly feminine bath & body products. A true reflection of the most beautiful things in life, this collection of signature fragrances, lip balms, hand creams, body lotion, body scrubs, spa soaps, candles, hair care and more were created with luxury, indulgence and femininity in mind… Why not indulge!

How much more persuasion do you need to indulge in bliss?

I’d been thinking of getting this for a very long time. The black metallic casing isn’t available in Singapore though, more for ang moh countries like the US of A. For Singapore, this brand is available only in Sephora, and the contents are housed in a cardboard box that looks like a briefcase complete with clasp. Finally, I decided, If it doesn’t exist in some form now, it will never exist. So I got it!

The girl suddenly asked if I wanted it wrapped.

Sabretooth: Shiny!

The blue wrapping paper they have is way nicer than the orange.

What’s inside (I just added the other two things inside). It’s called a Bellina box. It looks like this really cool briefcase.

These are the contents (plus the two extras). Fresh Fiore shower cream, Dolce [means Sweet] Dreams body lotion, Cattiva Diva hand lotion and a shower pouf. The two extras are (from left): hair and body powder and mini Terme Tresses shampoo.

The real contents of the Bellina box. You will not believe how expensive it is. Better still, if you calculate the individual prices, it’s even more expensive individually. They had to offer free mini items for purchases about $100 just to entice people (the one I chose was the shampoo). Am wondering if I made the right decision because I can’t smell it after awhile of using, though others say that they still do. Maybe it’s more of a ‘my nose has gotten used to the smell’ thing? Maybe I should have gotten the perfume instead.

Happy family. Perfume to come??

Am a happy girl now. Hopefully a blissful one in time to come. My neck has been sore, and my body aching for a while.

Principessa Beauty, I need your spa magic!

Harajuku Lovers and DKNY

L.A.M.B. G.

Harajuku Lovers Fragrance: n.1. A fatal attraction to cuteness.

Coined by Gwen Stefani, who used the pseudym of LAMB in more ways than one. First was her solo album, which she said the name came from a dog she used to have called Lamb (a dog called lamb??). Followed by her clothing line, as well as another sub-line that she initially wanted to call Sub-lamb but settled on Harajuku Lovers instead. Then, the fragrance of the same name was born.

The original fragrance was launched, Love, Angel, Music, Baby, and G.

The names are rather obviously derived from the initials of LAMB, and G is from the name of Gwen herself. My favourites are G and Lil’ Angel respectively, the fragrance of the rest aren’t that nice. G is a gourmand of coconut, and Lil’ Angel is reminiscent of fruity florals. But I personally like the Love doll, it looks so cute in a white sailor-suit, and Japanese hairbuns.

And now they’ve launched new Christmas editions!

The Snow Bunnies limited edition is already available in Singapore along with the solid perfume (which is encased in just a giant head of each character). I was so excited to see it stocked up in Robinsons. The fragrance is still the same, they’re just stocked in a different-looking bottle. And the Snow Bunnies edition is smaller too, it’s just 10ml while the originals is 30ml.

Not only that, they’re launching a Summer edition in Feb 2010.

HAHAHA. A BIT TOO TANNED AH?

Despite the different packaging, the fragrances of each character remains the same, they’re just dressed to suit the seasons. I shall get the G fragrance. One day. Just gotta figure out which version to get.

This reminds me of the times when I spray samples of different perfumes, including Harajuku Lovers and DKNY, and sit in class forcing making The Wong sniff each one, one by one and proclaim which one he thinks is nice. “Nice or not! Nice or not!” HAHA.

Speaking of DKNY, the green Be Delicious fragrance has become a poisoned apple to my senses. I love it for the strong and evident apple scent, and I planned to get a small one (I don’t want the 100ml one cause the bottle size is too large to hold comfortably). I even smell-tested it with The Wong already and he’s approved. But, here’s where the clincher came in.

Since I simply cannot stand the smell of the airplane, I brought along a sample onboard when I flew to KL to sniff whenever I need to. I did that twice, back and forth, and now, whenever I smell DKNY, I am almost immediately reminded by the airplane smell. SPOILER RIGHT. I can’t deal with that right now. Which is such a pity.

You know, I just finished doing my Media Law essay. And had the urge to reference every single thing I read. Sigh. And double space everything so it looks longer. HAHA.

Bedtime Rituals

Posted in Fashion and Beauty by fariwu on November 22, 2009

I have a bedtime ritual that I (almost) strictly adhere to.

Oh, who am I kidding. Like as if I follow rules and stuff.

But there’s a couple of things that I do like to do to ensure a nice good sleep.

1) Removal of makeup. Always. And that needs:

a) Makeup remover.

I used to never bother with makeup remover. “Cleanser already enough what. That’s why it’s called CLEANser.”

Now I realize that even though my foundation and mascara usually looks like they’ve disappeared by the end of the day, in reality there’s still traces left behind. And that’s what makeup remover is for.

If you want eye makeup remover, invest in a good one. Clarins is ridiculously expensive in Singapore compared to other brands, but worth it. No pain, and no rubbing at all.

b) Toner.

After cleanser, the next step (that I always skip) is toner. But it’s exceedingly gratifying to see the dirt on the toner. It just cleans out whatever the makeup remover and cleanser fails to remove. Best is when I forget to use a makeup remover. The toner-filled cotton bud will be PHOAR! Damn  dirty. Sometimes got sparkles also. A common complaint I always hear from people is that toner is drying for the skin, and I used to testify to that too. In reality, the skin’s too dry cause there’s not enough moisturizer applied to it. So dry skin + toner = even drier skin disaster. And that leads us to:

2) Moisturizer. Nuff said.

3) Body lotion.

Also used to skip body lotion, even though I sleep in an air-conned room. That’s because I’m lazy. And that I don’t like how greasy most lotions are. Then I discovered The Ark.

HAHA no I didn’t discover The Ark. But I discovered a fantastic lotion that smells great, isn’t greasy (previous lotions I tried had great reviews but still sucked) and is so freaking cheap.

Johnson’s baby bedtime lotion!

I didn’t buy it last time cause I thought cheap sure no good one lah. But it works! I like!

Donna Karan’s Cashmere Mist also not bad. At first I didn’t like the smell, but after awhile it grew on me. I use it sparingly though. Not cheap at all. Not like Johnson’s, that one can use like no tomorrow.

4) Perfume.

Huh what the hell? Who wear perfume to sleep one? Who wears short shorts? I WEAR SHORT SHORTS!

richard simmons

Sorreh. But it’s so funny. Who wears perfume at night? I wear! The Body Shop’s Love… Etc is my favourite before I go to sleep. Dunno why, just wear for fun. Smell nice what? Just to drift off peacefully… to dreamland I mean, not to heaven.

5) Eye mask.

Also not used frequently, but just if and when I need that perk-me-up. Once, in the morning, I had too little sleep and couldn’t open my eyes. So I put this over my head for about half an hour and my eyes were perfectly fine after that. Nice!

6) A good book.

Like I always say, ‘the bimbo bimbo kind of book’! It’s always nice to destress and get away from it all. But must be a good book. I hate reading about those girls who are so emotionally-ruled at every turn, and can’t even think logically.

But if there’s no book available, there’s always magazines.

Especially the ones with your face in it yet again.

Again, I don’t remember writing that. *shrugs*

Think that’s about it. So what’s your bedtime ritual?
