The day God flooded Orchard Road

The World Cup was not the only news that got tongues wagging in small, sunny Singapore today.

Due to heavy showers in the day, popular shopping stretch Orchard Road was drowned in floods, stalling cars, buses and other modes of transportation that had the misfortune of travelling through the area. The heavy rain damaged stores and stranded people in vehicles. The rain subsided within an hour. The rain affected Basement-located shops such as Starbucks, Wendys and Hermes in Liat Towers.

By 5pm though, the flood had completely subsided. I went strolling around Orchard Road at night, and everything was exactly as per normal.
